Most programming in a MUSH is by means of a functional scripting language which (and this is fairly special) is executed using preemtive multi-threaded processor module.
The popularity of this type of MUDs is however almost completely based on the roleplaying that goes on in those games. Quality of code and of the game world is often not considered important. Social contact between players is far more important. This is also true for other types of MUDs, though at a lower level.
